...then run.A turnaroundA cable car driver uses a turn table to turn the car around for the next run. This type of cable car is a single-ender meaning it can only travel in one direction and thus needs a turn-table at the end of the line.All aboardThe middle of intersections are among the few flat sections of metropolitan San Francisco and make good stopping places for the cable cars. Cable cars, then pedestrians have right of way, then everyone else. Toadster No 4A modernized Yellowstone Bus (a White) was our carriage for the a three hour leisurely tour of San Fran. Our guide John was informative and entertaining. Well worth doing if you're ever in Fog City.Going upA packed Powell-Mason line cable car inches its way up Jackson St, Nob Hill. However note the fence at the top.A fourtunate visitMr Toad took us to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie factory where 3 women make up to 10,000 fortune cookies a day, in three flavours - chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. We sampled fresh warm cookies - there's no going back.What's in store then?Nuff said.A she gardenIn the cente of Alamo square, old shoes go retire to the garden. Succulents seem to the plant of choice for old shoes.Post-card rowAs seen in many a TV show and movie and most famously in the opening credits of the TV show 'Full House' these 6 houses are a San Fran land mark opposite Alamo square. Despiter the sunny outlook the wind at our backs was blowing unhindered off the Pacific ocean and was mighty cold. Brrrrrr!Where are we?A W-class tram on San Fran's F-line. Yes a little piece of home-away-from-home. It even had Melbourne written on the side. The F-line in San Fran features historic trams from around the world.Toothbrush AlcatrazAs spotted in Waldgreen's, a pharmacy chain in San Fran, toothbrushes under lock and key.An island of greenWashington Sqaure seen from Coit Tower.Fog City DinerAnother SF land mark made famous by Hollywood. Not your typical diner though - on the menu was Truffled fries with Asiago.Do you want fries with that?Of course they could not have a burger on the menu and it could not be served without fries. Delicious none the less.Lucky parrotA Brazillian parrot, eating a Aussie flower, in a US city - welcome to San Francisco!
It's said to be lucky to have seen the parrots, as well as the dolphins in the bay and the chinese Erhu player as seen in 'The Pursuit of Happyness'. We saw all three!
